I-joist (Engeneered wood joist)

I-joists, also known as “engineered wood I-beams,” are structural components commonly used in residential and commercial construction. They consist of a vertical web made of oriented strand board (OSB) or plywood, with horizontal flanges made of either laminated veneer lumber (LVL) or dimensional lumber. The shape of the joist resembles the letter “I,” hence the name.

I-joists offer several advantages over traditional solid wood joists, including greater strength-to-weight ratio, uniformity, and resistance to warping, twisting, and shrinking. They are designed to provide consistent support for floors, roofs, and other structural elements in buildings. Their versatility and efficiency make them a popular choice in modern construction projects.
